Established in 1972, Outpost Sunsport, a locally owned and operated outdoor retail store, started as a small backpacking and mountaineering store in Fort Collins, Colorado. Since then, Outpost has gone through many changes over the years always keeping one thing in mind: we love the outdoors.
Outpost became a specialty downhill ski shop in 1983 and added snowboarding in 1985. We pride ourselves in having created one of the finest specialty ski and snowboard shops in northern Colorado. We have received national awards including the SnowSports Industries of America Ski Retailer of the Year for the Rocky Mountains and we are constantly striving to provide the highest quality products to help everyone enjoy their outdoor passions.
Although our product selection has grown over the years to include patio furniture sales in the summer, many things have stayed the same, including providing excellent customer service to our wonderful customers and trying to make a difference in northern Colorado. Annually, we proudly support Poudre School District, Colorado State University, Foothills Gateway, Respite Care, The Gardens on Spring Creek, Colorado Open Lands and many other northern Colorado and Larimer County organizations.
Randy has been at the helm of the Outpost ship for over 4 decades! As the owner of Outpost Sunsport, he loves sharing his passion for the outdoors with customers every day so that they may find the same enjoyment. Randy is a nature lover through and through and spends his free time downhill and backcountry skiing, hiking, biking and golfing. Because of his dedication to Outpost, the northern Colorado community has a one-stop outdoors shop and can create their own adventure.
Matt has spent the past decade with the Outpost team and loves the outdoor-loving culture he gets to experience on a daily basis. You can always count on Matt sharing his passion for skiing (and patio surfing!) with his coworkers or Outpost’s loyal customers. Outside of the store, he enjoys mountain biking, kayaking and backcountry skiing with his dog, Timber, and fine-tuning his home-brewing skills. If he could spend a week anywhere in the world, he would choose to kayak the straits of Scotland, stopping at distilleries along the way.
Dan is a true staple to the staff at Outpost. With more than eight years of experience under his belt, he has become a point person for customers and staff alike. During the winter months, the only thing Dan loves more than sharing his product knowledge is when customers return to the shop with stories from their snowy weekend adventures. In the summer, some of his favorite Outpost memories to date include delivering patio furniture to far away locations like Estes Park, Steamboat Springs, and even Nebraska! When Dan is not working for Outpost, he can be found doing just about any activity that ends with an “ing” – camping, hiking, biking, fishing… even firefighting!
Andrea has been with Outpost for six years and loves being part of a locally owned and family-oriented shop. As an avid skier, snowboarder and patio lounger, she imparts her “work hard + play hard = relax hard” on the many customers with whom she interacts. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys a full range of hobbies – Pilates, tennis, gardening and piano playing, just to name a few – with her pooch, Greta (a Viszla with tons of character!) by her side.
Jackson had Outpost on his radar ever since he flocked to the store in the winter with his dad to rent skis. Fast forward to today and Jackson has now been with the Outpost team for more than five years and still loves winter rentals. Time flies when he gets to fit boots for customers, assuring they leave for the slopes with the most comfortable gear possible – shell fitting and boot punching is no simple task! During the summer months, Jackson enjoys chatting with customers to create the maximum amount of comfort with their patio design and furniture. During his free time, Jackson’s perfect day would consist of three activities – riding his road bike to go rock climbing followed by playing some games at Pinball Jones!
Trevor, a Fort Collins native, joined the Outpost team with excitement to work for a locally owned small business that is passionate about the outdoors. He grew up exploring the Rocky Mountains on skis and snowboards, while actively learning about the ever-evolving technology that has improved winter equipment over the years. He enjoys sharing this passion and working with customers who are eager to learn. During his free time, Trevor doubles as a photographer. With a degree in horticulture and passion for exploring new landscapes, Trevor can often be found exploring new outdoor landscapes with his camera in hand and his girlfriend and pups by his side.
Eli brings a strong background in the retail industry and exceptional customer service skills to the team at Outpost. With a bright smile, Eli is always eager to get to know everyone who walks through the front doors and get their needs met. When she is not busy helping customers at work, she enjoys spending time with her two boys, listening to live music and exploring the outdoors.
Bobby considers himself lucky to have found Outpost and a team of fun coworkers. He excels at many hands-on tasks, so if you can’t find Bobby out on the floor, it is probably because he is in the back tuning and repairing skis or assembling patio furniture. From the time that he could first walk, Bobby’s feet were already strapped to skis. By age 12, he found his way to a snowboard. During the winter season, whether you are trying to strap your feet to one or two boards, Bobby enjoys sharing his knowledge to get newbies and veterans alike onto the snow. Outside of work, Bobby enjoys some moments of solitude found while fly fishing and working on cars.
