For years, Outpost Sunsport’s annual Ski and Snowboard Swap has been a time of connection, new purpose, and gathering to celebrate a shared love of all things ski and snow.
Why Community is at the Heart of Our Store and Events
Established in 1972, Outpost Sunsport was originally created as a small, locally owned backpacking and mountaineering shop in Fort Collins, Colorado. We were founded with values deeply rooted in both the local community and a deep love for the outdoors.
Over time, our shop grew into one of northern Colorado’s premier ski and snowboard retailers, earning national recognition for our quality and service.
Community events like the annual Ski Swap give our shop and community members the unique opportunity to connect with a love for ski and snow activities and the Fort Collins area.
When you attend the Ski Swap, you’ll be giving back to some of the organizations that make Fort Collins so great. A portion of every entry fee will go directly to charities like Respite Care, to strengthen the support of the organizations shaping our future.
How the Ski and Snow Swap Works
The 2026 snow season is predicted to be epic with a Super El Niño shaking up typical weather patterns, and locals hyped for fresh powder days. Our swap is designed to be straightforward, and give everyone a chance to find the gear they need before the season is in full swing.
We’ve made the way it works simple, so there’s zero stress and pure enjoyment:
- First, go through your own gear and decide what you’re ready to part with. To keep our Ski Swap at the top-quality our locals love, we do have a few important gear requirements.
- Second, check your chosen gear against our swap requirements: All equipment must be in serviceable condition and meet DIN standards. Clothing must be clean and fully functional (zippers, snaps, etc.). Not accepted: dated/non-indemnified equipment, loose bindings, used gloves, goggles, helmets, or non-ski/snowboard items.
- Third, visit our store during normal business hours between October 12th and October 16th to drop off your gear of choice. It costs $4 per item to include it in our event.
- Fourth, come shop the Ski Swap on October 17th and 18th to find the perfect gently used gear at low prices and give back to the local community.
- Finally, for every item you sell, receive either 50% cash back or 100% store credit of your item’s sale price.
Even if you decide to not sell any of your own gear at the gathering, the Outpost Sunsport community welcomes you to browse gently used gear, shop our store, and take advantage of our premium services.

With El Niño on the way, the time to gear up and prepare for a supercharged snow season is now. If you’ve been holding off on grabbing the gear you’ll need for better powder days, our swap is a great time to change that.
