Established in 1972, Outpost Sunsport, a locally owned and operated outdoor retail store, started as a small backpacking and mountaineering store in Fort Collins, Colorado. Since then, Outpost has gone through many changes over the years always keeping one thing in mind: we love the outdoors.

Outpost became a specialty downhill ski shop in 1983 and added snowboarding in 1985. We pride ourselves in having created one of the finest specialty ski and snowboard shops in northern Colorado. We have received national awards including the SnowSports Industries of America Ski Retailer of the Year for the Rocky Mountains and we are constantly striving to provide the highest quality products to help everyone enjoy their outdoor passions.

Although our product selection has grown over the years to include patio furniture sales in the summer, many things have stayed the same, including providing excellent customer service to our wonderful customers and trying to make a difference in northern Colorado. Annually, we proudly support Poudre School District, Colorado State University, Foothills Gateway, Respite Care, The Gardens on Spring Creek, Colorado Open Lands and many other northern Colorado and Larimer County organizations.

  • Matt Sisko

    Store Manager

Matt has been with the Outpost team since 2006 and loves the outdoor-loving culture he gets to experience on a daily basis. You can always count on Matt sharing his passion for skiing with his coworkers and Outpost’s loyal customers. Outside of the store, he enjoys the outdoor living lifestyle Colorado has to offer.  Favorite hobbies include mountain biking, lake activities, backcountry skiing and 4-wheeling with his wife and dogs, Timber and Kota.  As a former assistant brewer at Backcountry Brewery in Frisco, he relishes in finding the time to fine-tune his home-brewing skills.  When not in town, you may find Matt skiing Cameron Pass, or on a Downhill bike at Winter Park.

  • Carter Nuttal

Carter has been with the Outpost team for almost 5 years now, and he loves the laid back environment and his awesome coworkers! Carter is an avid skier and loves hitting the slopes in Steamboat. He skis on Armada JJs with the shift binding and Salomon slab boots. During the summertime, you might catch Carter rock climbing, fishing, or enjoying Horsetooth Reservoir – or else kicking back with a cold Odell IPA. If you’re looking for great local cuisine, Carter’s pick would be Domenics. Carter’s ideal three day weekend in the winter would be spent in a remote cabin in the backcountry of Jackson Hole!

    Trevor Kayl

Trevor, a Fort Collins native, joined the Outpost team six years ago. He grew up exploring the Rocky Mountains on skis and snowboards in the winter and backpacking and fishing in the summer. Currently, he rides Capita and Rossignol snowboards, Union bindings, and Salomon boots. His mountain of choice is Steamboat. During his free time, Trevor doubles as a photographer. With a degree in horticulture and passion for exploring new landscapes, Trevor can often be found exploring new outdoor landscapes with his camera in hand and his wife and border collies, Emery and Jaxson, by his side. Catch Trevor enjoying a cold beer at Funkwerks or a plate of sushi at Jaws.

  • Eli Avens

Outpost Sunsport has been lucky to have Eli on the team for six years now! She loves the family feel and comradery that comes with working for a local and family-owned business. Eli loves to visit Keystone, with its magnificent beauty and great trails. Although she is no longer able to ski due to a back injury, Eli doesn’t mind staying behind and cooking for her boys while they snowboard. Her sons are 24 and 18 years old and love hiking, biking, and even enjoying electric scooters! Eli’s family has an impressive amount of pets, although not all of them enjoy the wintertime as much as her kids do. They have a Schnoodle named King, a tortie cat named Kyle, a tarantula, a turtle, and several snakes and scorpions! When Eli needs a break from the pets, you can catch her enjoying a Rose with bubbles at Odell.

    Ray Mees

Ray seemingly comes to Outpost straight from the outdoors. Growing up in New Jersey, his parents stuck him on a pair of skis when he was three years old. His passion for spending time in the outdoors continued to grow in his adult life when he landed in Colorado for college. Since then, he has spent many winters working as a certified ski instructor and training manager, and summers working as a raft guide. Now, returning to his stomping grounds in Fort Collins as a CSU alumni, he is thrilled to continue working in the ski industry and enjoys the relaxed working environment that Outpost Sunsport has to offer. Ray is a both downhill and cross country skier, one of his favorite slopes being Retta’s Run at Winter Park Resort. He wears the S/LAB MTN boots and is a big fan of the Dynastar Menace skis. When he’s not working or skiing, you might find Ray enjoying a beer at Intersect or going on a summer rafting, biking, or paddle boarding adventure!
