With winter well underway and the mountains covered in snow, many of us have a severe itch that we need to scratch. Aspen Snowmass can help.
Though there are closer options, a little extra drive time will make sure that your itch is fully scratched. Located about five hours away up Interstate 70, on the edge of the White River National Forest, lies Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort. The family friendly resort has lots to offer those willing to venture a bit further.
Part of a group of four resorts, this one entertains with the most skiable terrain (3,362 acres). It also boasts the largest lift served descent in North America, bet you didn’t know that. An outstanding ski and snowboard school program has taught those young and old, to cut turns down the slopes with ease. And the one of the best parts about the resort is the variety of terrain, with a little something for all ability levels.
You’ll find yourself a map with over 90 trails that amount to over 150 miles, the longest of which is 5.3 miles long. A total of 21 lifts serve the mountain, keeping you and other visitors moving up to the top with ease and little wait time. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for a bit of excitement you can hit the three different terrain parks, or the beginner pipe before tackling the 22-foot superpipe. We recommend you start small and then move to the more challenging parks and superpipe.
And there’s no shortage of activities/events for you to enjoy either, the biggest of which is ESPN’s X-Games. Other activities include their Ullr Nights, snowshoe tours, cross-country skiing, and the NASTAR National Championships. The only problem you’ll have is deciding what you want to do!
Now that you know what they have to offer, it’s time to start planning your next trip. Get out there and enjoy the snow before it melts away!
