Ski and snowboard season is in full swing! Because we want to make sure that you take full advantage of your time on the slopes, we researched the best apps for mountain sports. Here is a roundup of our six favorites, all of which are free and formatted for both Android and iOS:

  1. OnTheSnow Ski & Snow Report

This app gives all the information you need to determine if your favorite resort has adequate snow conditions. It features more than 2,000 locations around the world and even includes trail maps, resort reviews, skiing news and more.

  1. Waze

Waze is great for making every ski and snowboard trip start out smoothly. It gives constant updates on traffic conditions, accidents, etc. and then gives you the best driving directions based on this information.

  1. Trace Snow

Trace Snow records all the metrics needed to track and improve your ski game. It calculates speed, jumps, airtime, distance traveled and calories burned and then provides a report at the end of the day.

  1. EpicMix

Created by our neighbors at Vail Resorts, EpicMix tracks how many trails and vertical feet you’ve covered from the moment you scan your ski pass. It rewards you with “pins” as you cover more distance and even lets you compete with others or share your accomplishments on social media.

  1. Find My Friends

No need to worry if your ski or snowboard gang wants to explore different runs. Find My Friends allows members in a group to keep an eye on each other’s locations down to the very chairlift.

  1. SnoCru

SnoCru has just about everything a skier or snowboarder needs – it tracks your runs and distance covered, provides snow conditions for nearby mountains, and even lets you know what bars and cafés are close.
