Located about three hours West over the Cameron, Muddy and Rabbit Ears Passes, you will find Steamboat Resort, nestled up against a mountain range that includes Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge and Christie Peak.

Resting on the edge of the Routt National Forest, the resort offers a wide variety of terrain to explore, 2,965 acres to be exact.  Base elevation rests at 6,900 feet above sea level and if you dare to summit Mt. Werner you will reach and elevation of 10,568 feet above the sea.  While they have trails for everyone’s abilities, 44% of them are for advanced skiers, 42% for intermediate abilities, and 14% of the trails are suitable for beginners.

Step on the lift at 8AM and ski or snowboard to your heart’s content, or until 5PM when the mountain closes.  However, if you are up there during their night time skiing dates, January 10th – March 30th 2014, you can stick to slopes until 9PM.  With 165 named trails, there’s no shortage of scenery to trek through and boredom shouldn’t be an issue.  Sixteen different lifts will have you up on the mountain in no time at all, and less time on the lift means more time flying down the mountain.

If you’re looking for some excitement and a few more thrills, head to Mavericks Superpipe.  At 450ft long, 56ft wide, with 18ft high walls, this half-pipe built of snow will keep you entertained for hours.  Located next to Mavericks is the terrain park which features rails, “s” mailboxes, rainbows, sliders and a mini half-pipe with 8ft walls.  Oh and did we mention there’s an outdoor sound system for your listening pleasure!?

Dining and hanging out shouldn’t be a problem as Steamboat is home to over 100 bar and restaurants to choose from.  Whether you’re grabbing brunch at Freshies or Creekside Café and Grill before some afternoon runs down the hill, or enjoying a delicious dinner at Mazzola’s or Fiesta Jalisco, you’ll have plenty of amazing options to choose from when it comes to dining options.  Looking to have a night on the town with family and friends?  Find a spot on the river like Sweetwater Grill or Carl’s Tavern to enjoy a few libations before hitting the hay.  And if you could use a good soak, look no further than Strawberry Park, where you can relax in pools of mineral water at 104 degrees.

There are plenty of lodging options as well if you are looking to stay awhile, just visit their website to find accommodations that will suit your needs.
